CHATEAU DE PITRAY

GRAND VIN DE BORDEAUX - AOC COTES DE CASTILLON

HISTORY.

In the 14th century, the land of Pitray was a feudaal estate.  In the 16th century, the family Ségur, Masters of Pitray, built a first manor on the estate.  During the second empire in 1868 their descendant, the general de Simard de Pitray built the "Château".  The castle is designed by the famous architect, Viollet le Duc, en built in gothico-renaissance style.  A park, dominated by oaktrees and cedars surrounds the castle.

The various generations of the family have since the 14th century tried to find the best harmony between tradition and evolution.  That is the reason that the wines of Château de Pitray are from such high quality.

THE ESTATE.

The estate, Château de Pitray, can be found at approximately 8km south of Saint-Emilion and is 100ha.  37ha are planted with vines, 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, mainly oriented to the south.  The average age of the vines is 29 years.
