KANONKOP ESTATE

Kanonkop is South Africa's most famous estate. They produce top wines, which are amongst the best of the world. Their Bordeaux style blend, Paul Sauer, was the first non-French wine to win the very prestigious French award "Trophée Pichon-Longueville, comtesse de Lalande". That happened to the 1991 vintage. Since then also the 1995 vintage won the award.
Kanonkop was and still is one of the most important promotors of the Pinotage grape. It was the first estate to fully invest in this new grape and now, their ceps are among the oldest in South Africa, giving every year again a ABSA top 10 Pinotage.
